(2012)
Aerodrome is inspired by the aerodynamic design of aeroplane turbine engines and the glorious tradition of modern Scandinavian design of the 60′s, particularly by designers like Panton, Saarinen and Jacobsen. Aerodrome is a family of lamps designed to adjust the mood of the room towards a smooth coolness, the kind typical of first class airport lounges.
The table lamp demands a place in a clear area. With its curved, sculptural profile Aerodrome “fills” the surrounding space while its visually rich profile, decorates that part of the room and inspires a feeling of elegance. When the light is turned on, the laser-cut profiles of its top-end casts curved shadowlines and light on the architectured surfaces of the room. When the light is turned off, the shape of the lamp is still highlighted by the stark contrast of colors and textures between the external surface and the flower-like interior surface at the top.
The design of a lamp goes beyond the pure functionality of illuminating whilst also trying to create an atmosphere suitable for anyone in pursuit of the idea of an “exclusive lifestyle”.
